Run by Heather Niven, Tech York runs a year-round events programme including the popular 2018 TedxYork event and Tech York event series.

Windows User Group

The Windows User Group is a national UK non-profit group aimed at educating people on how to get the most from Windows. The group has previously held events in York, however, there are events across the UK if you find yourself waiting too long for the next one.

AWS User Group

This meetup group is perfect for anyone looking to learn more about search engine optimisation, website performance and internet marketing. 

York Rail Innovation Community (YoRIC)

The York Rail Innovation Community (YoRIC) exists to connect the depth of rail expertise in York with each other, and with innovative capabilities outside of the rail sector.

They help local organisations with innovative ideas understand the rail industry, and how to engage with it.

CoderDojo York

CoderDojo York runs monthly coding and making club for young people in the city. They are currently on a break, but hope to be back soon.

York Digital Gurus 

This peer-to-peer network brings together business owners and digital specialists in a relaxed social setting to explore the latest challenges facing businesses with their digital strategies.

York Tech General Interest

York Mediale

York Mediale is an international media arts festival taking place 21-25 October 2020, which celebrates York as the UK’s first and only UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts.

Guild of Media Arts

The Guild of Media arts was formed in 2014 as the lifelong custodian of York’s designation as a UNESCO City of Media Arts.

They run social, networking and skills workshops throughout the year with a focus on digital creativity.


York Festival of Ideas

York Festival of Ideas is one of the largest free festivals in the UK, last year’s festival was enjoyed by over 40,000 people and was the winner of the 2018 award for Large Outstanding Cultural Festival at the York Culture Awards. The Festival offers over 100 free events, including talks from world-class speakers, exhibitions, theatre, music, films, guided walks, family-friendly activities and workshops.

Tribe Talks

Tribe talks focus on bringing entrepreneurs, freelancer and small business owners to hear talks throughout the year from business experts on their honest stories and insights.
